Samuel Barnes - American Family Insurance

History

Sam started his career with American Family as the Marketing Specialist for the Brandon McEwen Agency. He learned and grew under Brandon's leadership along with completing his degree in Business Administration from WSU Tri-Cities. American Family Insurance was started by Herman Wittwer, a struggling insurance salesman who dreamed of selling auto insurance to Wisconsin farmers. He understood that farmers presented lower risks compared to city drivers because they drove less often and parked their autos for the winter. Confident he had a good idea, Herman opened Farmers Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in 1927. Our company's name changed in 1963 to American Family Mutual Insurance Company. Today, we offer auto, home, life, umbrella, business, farm & ranch insurance products. As a mutual insurance company, our customers and owners are one and the same. Our success is measured not only by the rate of return for shareholders but also by the value we provide our policyholders.
