Salish Sea Expeditions

Salish Sea Expeditions, based in Bainbridge Island, WA, offers boat-based scientific inquiry and hands-on learning experiences for students in grades 6-12. Students become part of the crew aboard the schooner Zodiac, engaging in marine science experiments, team-built STEM projects, island exploration, and other activities.

Since its founding in 1994, Salish Sea Expeditions has provided innovative science-under-sail programs to over 12,000 students, fostering curiosity, confidence, and critical thinking skills. Through a partnership with the Northwest Maritime Center, Salish Sea Expeditions continues to inspire youth to connect with the marine environment and develop a passion for learning and science.
