From traffic signals to wastewater treatment plants, the Public Works Department provides leadership in preparing, building and maintaining the infrastructure that provides for our community's needs today and for the generations of tomorrow. Engineering, street maintenance, water and sewer, and sanitation are four of the key areas the department plans and oversees. Regular operations include maintaining the wastewater treatment plant, maintaining sewers and water lines ; striping, sweeping and maintaining streets for all weather conditions ; maintaining street and traffic signs ; and weed removal. Major public works projects of late include the upgrade of the sewer treatment plant, completion of a 6-million gallon water reservoir ; shared responsibilities for the 88th Street-Interstate 5 interchange ; and paving and widening of key streets in Marysville. Maintaining a healthy infrastructure is necessary for enhancing our quality of life, and sustaining our community for years to come.Streets - The Street Division is responsible for maintaining all roads throughout the city to a safe, reliable and efficient condition. The division is also responsible for the maintenance crosswalks, sidewalks and wheelchair ramps assuring the safety of the pedestrian public. Programs include: sweeping, shoulder maintenance ( ditching, mowing, herbicide ), snow and ice removal, paving, pothole patching, striping, stop bars, and crosswalks.Solid Waste - The Solid Waste Division is responsible for the solid waste collection and disposal as well as the recycling program in the city.
