Public Utility District

Pend Oreille Public Utility District is a consumer-owned and locally controlled electric and water utility district. The district produces hydroelectric power from the Box Canyon Dam and distributes electricity to more than 8,500 customers. It also owns and operates more than five individual water distribution systems, as well as provides wholesale broadband services. The district offers a variety of energy services for residential and commercial customers, including home energy surveys, appliance rebates and incentive programs. In addition, it provides design assistance, energy saving ideas and financial incentives to businesses to lower the energy requirements of lighting and building envelope systems. Pend Oreille Public Utility District has been operational for more than 70 years and is located in Newport, Wash.
