Padilla Bay Reserve, managed by the Washington State Department of Ecology, offers research and stewardship opportunities alongside educational classes and professional trainings on various environmental topics. The Reserve's Breazeale Interpretive Center houses an aquarium with informative exhibits that are open to the public free of charge.

Situated just north of Bay View, Washington, in Skagit County, Padilla Bay is home to a vast eelgrass meadow, the second largest on North America's Pacific Coast at over 8,000 acres. This crucial habitat serves as a nursery for juvenile salmon, crab, and herring, while also providing essential shelter for waterfowl and marine birds.

As part of the National Estuarine Research Reserve system, Padilla Bay is dedicated to long-term research, monitoring, education, and stewardship. Visitors to the reserve may witness school groups learning about estuarine ecosystems, researchers collecting data, or explore the Breazeale Interpretive Center's exhibits showcasing marine life. The surrounding trails and overlook offer opportunities to observe a variety of bird species in their natural habitat.
