It is important to provide patients with the most up to date information in healthcare. I prefer to collaborate with my patient about what the best plan is for them after reviewing all lifestyle, medical, surgical and alternative treatment options. Ultimately, I want the plan that is going to work best for the patient and I value their input in determining that plan. Women's health is very extensive and complex. It challenges me every day.

I completed my undergraduate degree at Duke University in Electrical Engineering, and then received a Masters of Engineering at the University of Utah in Biomedical Engineering. I did research and development in engineering for 10 years before going to medical school. I am a third generation OB/GYN provider; my father and grandfather were OB/GYN's, and my grandmother was a nurse midwife. The OB/GYN rotation in medical school solidified my genetic predisposition to the specialty.

I chose medicine because it offered me everything that I wanted in a career. I was looking for a career that would be stimulating, challenging and rewarding. I really like having children as my patients, and I like working with parents as well. I enjoy watching and helping families make positive changes, even ones that might be difficult, because we know it's what's best for their children.
