NW Canine Connection

History

I opened NW Canine Connection at the start of the down turn in the economy. I already used the large building on our property for teaching obedience classes, but on this small island, I could make enough income as a dog trainer especially relatively new to the community.so I installed just 5 kennels and offered boarding and daycare to my clients. I now employee 7 part time employees several of whom have been with me for over 2-6 years. This consistency has been the cornerstone of our success and good reputation. My employees love what they do here and the relationships they build with the dogs and their human counterparts. We now have 22 kennels. Most of the training I do is on a one one one basis, but I still offer group classes in the Fall-Spring months. Check out our website for more information and great images of our dogs at play.

Specialties

As a trainer I specialize in dogs with aggressive tendencies that are fear based. Most aggression is fear based. Our kennel offers a very unique environment that urban kennels just can't provide. Our dogs get to be outside most of the day especially when the weather is good. They get to play together as a group. We have three yards to separate dogs based on their activity levels and temperaments. I also offer a program for young dogs and puppies to come and stay at my house as a part of the family to become good household members. This is a minimum of one month up to three. Most dogs require no more than one month of training. Where they will learn respect of space, of the other dogs in the house, learn to walk on leash, be a good canine citizen in public places, wait at doors, inside the car and basic obedience behaviors. A healthy learning environment for a young dog can make the difference in your dog's future mental health.
