The Northwest Washington Medical Society, founded in 1889, is a non-profit professional association dedicated to strengthening and sustaining the physician community in Whatcom and San Juan Counties. With over 130 years of advocacy, the society supports public health, pre-medical and continuing medical education, and wellness initiatives, while providing free referral services to the community and professional and educational support to local physicians.

As a unified entity with the WSMA, the society requires joint membership in both the county medical society and the WSMA or the Washington Osteopathic Medical Association. Through its non-profit 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsorship, the NWMS accepts tax-deductible donations and grants to further its mission of promoting the health and well-being of the people living in this part of the Pacific Northwest.
