431 Water St
Port Townsend, WA 98368
Northwest Maritime creates powerful maritime experiences to educate, inspire people to adventure, and celebrate maritime culture in Port Townsend and throughout Puget Sound. The center is home to many of Port Townsend’s iconic events, including the Wooden Boat Festival, Race to Alaska, and SEVENTY48, along with classes and activities aimed to inspire and ignite adventure. Visitors can learn to sail in one of their many classes, build a boat in the Boatshop, cruise the local waters on a Port Townsend Bay tour, experience driving a large vessel (virtually) in their state-of-the-art ship simulator, or just explore the beautiful waterfront campus. Stop by the new Welcome Center to explore exhibits catering to all ages that share the history and traditions of Port Townsend’s maritime legacy, as well as maritime culture and activities today. There is also a gift shop featuring outdoor gear, navigation essentials, and an array of sea-themed books and nautical gifts.

Great, friendly people. Run a world class Annual Wooden Boat Festival in September. Flying from Maui to attend for second consecutive year. Keeping the wooden boat tradition alive & well.

Thoroughly enjoyed the maritime center on a gusty day. Bought several things at the Wooden Boat Chandlery and even got coffees at Velocity to top off the visit. Great place to explore.
