The Lewis-Mason-Thurston Area Agency on Aging (LMTAAA) is a local governmental agency that provides home and community services for seniors and adults with disabilities to help them remain living in their own homes. Case Management staff assesses and authorizes home care services for clients in Lewis, Mason and Thurston Counties. Information and Assistance staff offers free help to individuals and organizations in our communities to identify services and programs for seniors, adults with disabilities and family caregivers. Our goal is to offer quality services emphasizing independence and dignity. The professional staff is responsible for fiscal and contract management, program and system coordination and assisting clients to access services. LMTAAA operates Information and Assistance, Case Management, the Home Care Referral Registry, and the Family Caregiver Support Program in all three counties. The agency also contracts for a variety of services in each community. In addition, LMTAAA staff, board and council members advocate for an effective system of long-term care services, collaborating with policy makers and other social service agencies. The LMTAAA was created through the collaborative action of Lewis, Mason and Thurston Counties in 1976. LMTAAA is a governmental agency, sponsored and governed by the three county governments. The LMTAAA Board, referred to as the Council of Governments (CoG), is comprised of one county commissioner from each of the three sponsoring counties. The LMTAAA Advisory Council, with equal representation of citizens from each county, makes recommendations to the CoG and staff. The agency operates three offices in the three county area, in Olympia, Shelton, and Chehalis. LMTAAA purchases services from private and public agencies and arranges for service delivery for individuals who meet eligibility requirements. LMTAAA utilizes a variety of state, federal and local funding sources including the Federal Older Americans Act, Medicaid, Respite, State Family Caregiver Support Program, the State Senior Citizens Services Act and individual and community donations.
