Movement in Balance
HistoryI came to horses later in life, but have fallen in love with them just as if I were ten. When it was time for a career change, they beckoned and I answered, calling on decades of study in energy work and earth-based spirituality to develop a healing practice for both physical and energetic aspects. It all started in 1993, when a handsome dapple gray won my heart. In claiming me as his own, I embarked upon a journey that changed the way I see and engage with the world. He expanded my experience of life and love, and opened my eyes to the world according to a beautiful and opinionated horse. I've never been the same. For that I am very grateful. My education and experience as an artist and designer trained me to see, and to listen to my intuition. After fifteen years working as a communications consultant, writer and editor, I know how to offer my point of view tactfully, and I enjoy telling a good story.SpecialtiesMovement in Balance and Barbara Breckenfeld offer bodywork and energy healing for horses at barns, pastures and shows around the Puget Sound region. Structural integration is hands-on bodywork that lengthens connective tissue. As simple as that sounds, the results can be profound. The work releases holding patterns which enables the horse's body to change towards more freedom of movement and balance. It benefits any horse, especially equine athletes in training, riding horses who need support to move better, and older horses who are getting stiff. As practitioner, Barbara listens to, and supports each animal's body wisdom to find the inherent health and balance present within. A bodywork session includes a hands-on scan of the body, movement analysis, building trust with the horse, and hands-on bodywork including Structural Integration and Reiki. With a calm, grounded presence, and healing energy in her hands, horses relax and enjoy their connection with Barbara while releasing holding patterns in their bodies.
