La Conner Fire Department
The La Conner Fire Department has been serving the community for over 100 years, becoming an official department of the town in 1932. They are known for their dedication to fire safety, being the first all-volunteer department in Washington State to have a heart defibrillator and the second in the county to have a Compressed Air Foam pumper. They also conduct an annual fire safety program for preschool and elementary school children.
In addition to their firefighting efforts, the La Conner Fire Department is supported by the La Conner Volunteer Firemen's Association, a non-profit organization that fundraises and provides community support. The association sponsors events such as an Easter Egg Hunt and the St. Patrick's Day Dance, and operates the Fire Service Museum, showcasing historical fire equipment and artifacts. The department also offers opportunities for individuals to become volunteer firefighters, with a probationary period and training requirements.
