1921 E State Route 106
Union, WA 98592
The farm began in the 1880's when Issac W. Woods homesteaded in Mason County. He was followed to the area by his daughter and husband, William A and Olivia Woods Hunter. They pioneered in the Skokomish River Valley raising cattle and crops. In 1894 their son Paul was born, and in 1898 son Harold, who both followed their parents' footsteps by the 1920's. They increased the farm and began a dairy farm and delivered milk to the logging camps, Lake Cushman Dam construction crews in the 1920's and later door to door in Bremerton. In 1948 Paul's two sons, Bill and Jim started purchasing land suitable for growing Christmas trees. They continued to work on the farm, assuming the operation of the farm in 1962. The dairy farm operated until 1973. By 1977 Bill and Jim each had grown sons and decided to divided their holding and go into business with their sons. Hunter Farms today is Bill and Carol Hunter and children. Son Bill Jr. & wife Luayne and son Paul & wife Leslie. Also their daughter Pam and her husband help out on the farm when not busy with their own profession. Also recently joining the family operation is Bill Jr.'s daughter Jami, becoming the first of the sixth generation of Hunters' to farming in Mason county. Hunter Farms operates a diversified farm in the rich Skokomish River Valley raising such crops as Christmas trees, timber, greenhouses flowers and vegetables, cattle and hay. Hunter Farms is a direct farm market, which retails their greenhouse plants, sweet corn, vegetables, pumpkins, hay, Christmas trees and wreaths at the general store located on the farm. The Christmas season includes a retail Christmas tree operation in the Seattle market.

Fun place to go in the fall for their pumpkin patch and corn maze. We stop here occasionally for a massive waffle cone of Olympic Creamery Ice Cream. Fun assortment of jams, jellies, and relishes....
