The Drayton Harbor Maritime Association is dedicated to preserving the maritime history of Blaine, Washington, and its surrounding Salish Sea waters. Their efforts include the restoration of the historic 116-year-old Diamond NN59 sailboat, which is significant to the region's fishing heritage in Bristol Bay, Alaska.
In addition to the sailboat restoration, the association operates the Historic Plover Passenger Ferry, the oldest foot passenger ferry in Washington. Built in 1944 and now in her 80th year, the Plover provides a glimpse into the maritime past of the area, having shuttled workers to one of the largest salmon canneries in the world on Semiahmoo Spit.
