Frosen Acres Alpacas
Photos
History
I fell in love with alpacas 25 years ago while visiting a farm in Vermont. That first alpaca sweater is still my favorite, softest, warmest all these years later. We searched for the perfect spot for several years and finally found our small farm at Penn Cove a few years ago. We had a lot of work to do to be ready to start raising alpacas, as our pastures were not fenced. Our original herd of 3 has grown to 9 and we are expecting 3 more babies this summer. Our farm store is just going in this winter and we hope to be open this summer for visitors to the farm. For now, you may visit us by appointment by calling 360-969-5714. 10 chickens, 8 ducks, 3 australian shepherds, and a peacock and peahen also reside at Frosen Acres. We look forward to participating in the Whidbey Island Farm Tour, Fiber Quest, and other farm and fiber activities next year and look forward to meeting you soon.
Specialties
At Frosen Acres Alpacas on beautiful Penn Cove across from historic Coupeville on Whidbey Island, we raise fine alpacas in all shades of gray as well as some of the other 22 natural colors. Our softest, warm yarns are available at the farm or at my acupuncture office located in downtown Oak Harbor at 830 SE Bayshore Drive above Carla's Shear Inspiration. Or, you can visit our website at Openherd to view and place an internet order. We also offer rovings (fiber ready to be spun into yarn for your spinner friends) and fine alpaca products such as socks, scarves, hats, gloves, etc. We welcome all inquires and look forward to answering any questions you might have about these friendly, kind animals. If you are interested in starting your own farm, we would be happy to get you started with an affordable package which includes mentoring. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
