Fairwood Elementary School

Fairwood Elementary offers a variety of academic and extracurricular programs to students in kindergarten through grade six. Its science classes offer information on solids, liquids, air, weather and insects. The school s writing curriculum emphasizes on modeled, shared, interactive, independent and guided writing. Its reading courses include questioning, visualizing, inferring, synthesizing and literary analysis. The school also provides health classes on nutrition, safety, AIDS and human development. Located in Renton, Wash., the school employs literacy coaches, custodians, psychologists, counselors and classroom teachers. Founded in 1969, the school also sponsors family nights, talent shows and fundraisers. Fairwood Elementary has an enrollment of more than 450 students and is a part of the Kent School District.
