Community Action Center

The Community Action Center, also known as CAC, is a nonprofit organization that offers a range of support services for the economically disadvantaged individuals of Whitman County, Wash. Established in 1988, it provides food supplement, energy and rental assistance, early childhood development, legal referral, weatherization, home rehabilitation, and emergency and transitional housing services. The organization administers the Homebuyer Down Payment Assistance Program, which includes assistance in the areas of referral, loan, budgeting and home counseling. The Community Action Center offers financing services for the repair and improvement of owner occupied housing through its housing rehabilitation loan program. It also conducts an emergency food assistance program that features food supply, nutritional counseling and information on food purchase and preparation. The Community Action Center maintains its administrative office in Pullman, Wash.
