Commission Hispanic Affairs
The Washington State Commission on Hispanic Affairs (CHA) is a government agency established in 1971 to improve public policy development and the delivery of government services to the Hispanic community in Washington State. Through their work, CHA identifies and defines issues concerning the rights and needs of the Hispanic community, advises the Governor and state agencies on relevant policies and programs, and establishes relationships with state agencies, local governments, and the private sector.
Driven by a grassroots movement, CHA was created as part of the Chicano movement in the late 60s and early 70s, with a focus on advocating for community development and improving conditions for Latinos in the state. Governed by RCW Chapter 43.115, CHA works towards its vision of providing secure, transparent, mobile, and modern technology for information and online tools to support the Hispanic Latinx community in Washington State.
