Northwest's Child Day Care
HistoryIn 1989, Northwest's Child became established as a non profit agency and in 1991 the doors to the first-of-its-kind extended day program for school aged children & teens with severe/profound developmental and physical disabilities had begun. This agency was created out of a very real gap in services for our most vulnerable and at-risk children in our community. It would be the first licensed agency in Western Washington to serve children well beyond the typical after-school age of 12, and continue well into early adulthood.SpecialtiesNorthwest's Child provides a safe nurturing place for children, teens and adults with moderate to severe special needs. For our school aged clients our program is a valuable extension to each student's school day and increases their chances at mastering the many goals they strive to achieve. For our adult clients, our program takes the place of school with an emphasis on life skills, community interactionand building relationships with peers. Our program encourages vocational, social, and educational growth in a variety of ways, including volunteer opportunities, field trips, and working with individual education plans. Our clients are continually learning, building friendships and gaining a stronger sense of community.
