Founded in 1969, the Mercer Island Boys & Girls Club is a nonprofit organization that offers a variety of programs, activities and services for more than 2,000 youths. It offers programs in the areas of education and career development, art, technology and citizenship. The organization also provides sports, before and after school programs, camping activities, leadership opportunities and recreational services. Its child care program includes a variety of activities, such as learning projects, arts and crafts and cooking. The organization s SMART Girls program includes community service projects and self-esteem development classes. The Mercer Island Boys & Girls Club is a part of Boys and Girls Clubs of America, which is a national network of more than 3,500 neighborhood-based facilities.
