The Alaska Seafood Cooperative, formerly known as the Best Use Cooperative, is a collective of catcher processor fishing companies established in 2008. Dedicated to enhancing the management of Bering Sea flatfish and non-pollock groundfish fisheries, the Cooperative collaborates with federal scientists to minimize its impact on the seafloor and marine species while sustainably providing fish for millions of people annually.

Through innovative fishing practices and gear modifications, the Alaska Seafood Cooperative has significantly reduced seafloor contact by over 90%. Leading the industry in a federal catch share program, the fleet efficiently harvests Pacific cod, yellowfin sole, rock sole, Pacific ocean perch, and Atka mackerel, resulting in decreased bycatch rates, increased retention rates, and a higher flow of quality seafood products into the market.
