The Tumwater Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that works to maintain law and order. It operates patrol, administration, training and investigation divisions. The department s detective division handles death and crime scene investigations, fingerprint identification, evidence collection, sexual crime, court presentations, surveillance and interviewing. The Tumwater Police Department assists in cases of domestic violence and maintains a sex offender registry. It conducts the Explorer program, which provides law enforcement training to students between the ages of 14 and 21. The department also supports ride along and reserve officer programs.
