WAVY

WAVY-TV has served Hampton Roads, since 1957. Originally started by Tidewater Teleradio as an offshoot to their radio station, WAVY-AM, WAVY-TV was purchased in 1968 by LIN Broadcasting. In March, 1998, LIN Broadcasting was acquired by Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst, a leading private investment firm headquartered in Dallas. Additionally, several famous faces have worked at WAVY. Most notably were NBC alumni Willard Scott and Lloyd Dobins. The station is located in Portsmouth, Va.
