Washington Mill Elementary School

Washington Mill Elementary School is a learning center that serves more than 530 students in kindergarten through grade six. It provides English for Speakers of Other Languages and gifted and talented education programs. The school conducts classes in art, music and physical education. It supports activities, such as Odyssey of the Mind and string instrument playing. The school also offers special education and speech and language therapies for students with special needs. Washington Mill Elementary School operates a parent-teacher association that sponsors after-school Spanish and family and community programs. The school s staff includes a physical therapist, reading specialist, guidance counselor and instructional assistants. Located in Alexandria, Va., Washington Mill Elementary School is governed by Fairfax County Public Schools, which serves over 164,840 students through nearly 230 elementary, middle and high schools, as well as alternative learning and special education centers.
