United Way-Natl Capital Area

Operational for more than 30 years, United Way of the National Capital Area has been one of the leaders in community building in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1974, it works in partnership with the United Black Fund of Greater Washington, American Heart Association and American Cancer Society. United Way of the National Capital Area coordinates annual fundraising campaigns to raise funds for agencies that provide health and human service programs to Washington area residents. It promotes regional dialogue and leverage funding to increase the availability of affordable housing and supportive services for individuals and families. In addition, the organization operates service centers that provide solutions for various community problems. United Way of the National Capital Area maintains a location in Vienna, Va.
