The Alliance of Artists in Alexandria, VA, was a small organization that operated from 1993 to 2021, administering music royalties collected under the United States Audio Home Recording Act of 1992. They compensated artists, writers, publishers, and sound recording copyright owners for the loss of sales due to home private copying, and their dedicated staff ensured the proper distribution of these royalties to the hundreds of thousands of participants they represented.

With a small team and the support of college interns and law clerks, known as the AARC Angels, the Alliance of Artists and Recording Companies diligently managed this small royalty fund, which was originally fueled by blank CDs and CD recorders and later adapted to newer technology.
