Sunstone Counseling

History

Sunstone Counseling began in 2011 when co-owners Amy Clay, LPC and George Coyne, LCSW had a vision to serve Northern Virginia with comprehensive and accessible mental health counseling. In their quest to meet the community's ever-changing and diverse needs, Amy and George sought to develop and nurture other counselors and create an experienced and dedicated team. With locations in Falls Church and Old Town Alexandria, Amy and George joined forces with Katie Clark, LPC and registered play therapist (RPT). Katie aimed to serve the growing need for child and adolescent counseling and opened Sunstone's McLean office in 2018. Since its inception, Sunstone Counseling has grown to more than 70 therapists in five Virginia locations: City of Falls Church, Old Town Alexandria, McLean, and its newest locations, Ashburn and Richmond. In response to the COVID pandemic, the Sunstone team expanded even further, offering services to all of Virginia through HIPAA-compliant telehealth counseling.
