Spectrum specializes in designing and building unique single family homes, major additions/renovations and light commercial projects. It is a family business, owned and operated by father and son, Dan and Don Dyrness. Established in 1989, Spectrum Construction & Development Co., Inc has set itself apart from other builders by offering a high degree of professionalism and personal service to its customers. Their projects are characterized by distinctive design, attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.Don and Dan's combined experience add up to over 70 years of home building in northwestern New Jersey. Dan specializes in design and job management, while Don heads up the business side of the company. Over the years, they have developed strong relationships with a key group of trade contractors, professionals and suppliers. Some relationships have existed for two and three generations.As a team, Don and Dan they have earned the Best Single Family Home of the Year award ten times from the New Jersey Community Builders & Remodelers Association. This year, Spectrum received a total of 3 first place honors from the CBRANJ- two in the Best Custom Addition/Alteration category and one in the the Best Historic Renovation-Commercial category. They are past are recipients of the Roxbury Area Chamber of Commerce Beautification Award, and Historic Beautification Award from Roxbury Township.Dan and Don are as committed to the community and their families as they are to their business. Don is the third generation of the Dyrness family to be involved in the construction industry. He is a Roxbury High School graduate and has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island. An Eagle Scout, Don is the Committee Chairman for Boy Scout Troop #163. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Succasunna and has served as President of the Roxbury Area Chamber of Commerce. He is an active member of the NAHB's Builder 20 Club, a nationwide group of custom home builders. Don has been awarded the Business Person of the Year Award from the Roxbury Area Chamber of Commerce and the Morris County Chamber of Commerce. Don has earned the Certified Graduate Builder designation CGB from the NAHB. He has earned the Certified Green Professional CGP designation from the NAHB. Most recently, he was named the 2010 Remodeler of the Year by the Community Builders & Remodelers Association of New Jersey ( CBRNJ )Dan has worked in the construction industry for nearly 50 years having learned the trade from his Norwegian father. Dan is a former member of the Roxbury Rotary Club and Roxbury Fire Company #1. He is past president for the Roxbury-Succasunna Kiwanis Club. He was the recipient of the "1994 Distinguished Citizen Award" by the James R. Sprow Memorial Foundation.
