Sherwood Forest Plantation, located in Charles City, VA, was the home of the 10th U.S. President John Tyler from 1842 until his death in 1862. Known as the longest frame house in America, it spans over 300 feet and reflects the lifestyle of a mid-19th century presidential family amidst a beautiful wooded landscape and 12 dependencies.
The plantation, originally known as Smith's Hundred, has been continuously maintained by the Tyler family through the Sherwood Forest Plantation Foundation. With its terraced gardens and original outbuildings, it is considered one of the most complete plantation yards in America, dating back to circa 1680.
