It's a pretty nice area by Mount Vernon Estate. The parking lot and picnic tables work. This is right off the GW Parkway, in the Fort Hunt section. There's the Mount Vernon Trail through here....

Plenty of parking but best to get there early in a nice weekend day. Dozen or so picnic tables, most close to the river. Look both ways before crossing the busy bike path.

Nice park along the river. Plenty of parking too for visitors. I recommend coming to this spot for a laid back time.

Pretty park right on the water, but like the other commenter said, the bathroom is disgusting. Urine and paper all over the floor and it reeks so bad the minute you open the door. Stop elsewhere...
