BSA Venture Crew 258

HistoryIn December of 2008 VFW Post 10574 was approached by Scoutmaster Frank A. Alger, Jr., of BSA Troop 258, about establishing a Older Scout Unit with the VFW Post. Venturing Crews are and extension of the Basic Boy Scouting Program that involves both male and female youth from age 14 to age 21. At present we have 4 Female Youth and 4 Male Youth registered. The Crew is Youth Lead and they elect their own President, Vice-President and other officers. Adult perform in a mentoring role. During the Past three (3) years the Crew has been Rock Climbing, gone on Boat Tours, Camping, Visited Kings Dominion, Taken Part in Scouting for Food every year, helped the VFW Post with Fund Raisers, Camped at a Gun Club where they were instructed by an NRA Rangemaster and fired every thing from a .22 cal rifle/pistol up to a M4 carbine. Much more is planned for the up coming year.
