About Rappahannock Record Welcome to the online version of the Rappahannock Record, an independently-owned weekly newspaper published in Kilmarnock, Lancaster County, Virginia. Kilmarnock is a trading center for the Northern Neck, a peninsula in Virginia bordered by the Chesapeake Bay and the Rappahannock and Potomac Rivers. One of four newspapers on the Northern Neck, the Record is the largest in both size and circulation. Founded in 1916, it features 24 to 40 pages each week with a press run of approximately 8, 500 and a readership of about 20, 000. Much like this online version, the paper is divided into various news segments. The front page, Local Life, Sports and The Northern Neck Marketplace lead off the section fronts. Other pages are devoted to a calendar of events for the week, stories about upcoming events, opinions, and news about government, schools, businesses and churches.
