History

Anthony Taitz, the owner, has over 35 years of experience in the diamond and jewelry business. He began his career as a diamond cutter in Johannesburg, South Africa. Anthony spent three years cutting round and fancy shaped diamonds, as well as sorting, cleaving, and marking rough diamonds and dealing with clients from all over the world. He moved to the United States in 1983 and spent his first three years here as a wholesaler, dealing with clients in all 50 states. He opened Protea Diamonds in Arlington, VA in 1986. We have been selling quality diamonds and jewelry from the same location ever since.

We are a small, boutique-style jewelry store that has been serving the Washington, DC area for over 30 years. Our goal is to help you create the perfect piece of jewelry, give excellent personal service, and have clients for life who will refer their family and friends. We have been voted one of the best places to buy a diamond by Washingtonian Magazine. Our name is trusted throughout the jewelry industry and we are listed with the Jewelers Board of Trade. All our diamonds are conflict-free.
