History

Dr. Gouldin was recognized in 2003, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 & 2019 in Washingtonian Magazine as one of the top periodontists in the area. He was recognized as a top periodontist in the Virginia Living Magazine (2006, 2009, 2012, 2019) & the Northern Virginia Magazine (2014, 2016-18). Dr. Carlos is a Fellow in the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry, & is a co-founder & co-leader of the Northern Virginia Periodontics Synergy Study Series, the NVP Spear Study Club, & the NVP Study Series. Dr. Carlos was nominated as a Top Periodontist in Virginia Living Magazine for 2017, 2018, & was selected as a 2019 Washingtonian Top Dentist.

Specialties

Dr. Gouldin and Dr. Carlos are periodontists, that is, dentists who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal (gum) disease, as well as the treatment planning, placement, and maintenance of dental implants. Periodontists receive extensive training, including three additional years of education beyond dental school. Our office is in Old Town Alexandria, and we have had the pleasure of serving Northern Virginia since 1995.
