The Northern Virginia Model Railroaders (NVMR) is a long-established club of model railroading enthusiasts located in the historic train depot in Vienna, Virginia. With a membership of over ninety individuals, the club has been creating and maintaining an elaborate HO scale model railroad layout that vividly depicts the Western North Carolina Railroad of the 1950s.
Open to the public throughout the year, the NVMR hosts regular Open Houses that invite visitors of all ages to experience realistic train operations and view intricately detailed representations of towns like Salisbury and Asheville. In addition to showcasing their mainline operations, the layout features a fictional trolley line, offering a unique glimpse into both freight and passenger transport reminiscent of the era.
