My Empanada

History

We're a husband and wife team from Colombia, South America, a place where there are as many empanada vendors as there are burger joints in the United States! Empanadas are the classic street food in Latin America. These golden brown, crescent-shaped pastries come in a wide variety of sweet and savory flavors inspired from all over South America and the Caribbean. After many adventures in the food industry, my husband and I decided to focus specifically on empanadas to bring Richmond some of the many flavors and culinary secrets of our Latin culture. My Empanada is about going back to the roots of a culture. Not only our Latin culture, but also other cultures in a search for that special ingredient or spice that creates a nostalgic flavor.

Specialties

My Empanada uses traditional family recipes from both Colombia and South America. Our empanadas are baked fresh every day and sold ready-to-eat at our mobile food vending carts. At our physical location in the West End, we provide fresh-baked empanadas and frozen empanadas that can be freshly baked at home. Our empanadas are also complimented by an assortment of fresh salsas that we have prepared in house.
