Dr. Slade-Byrd truly believes that CHKD is 'more than a hospital.' As a resident, practicing physician and mother of three, she can honestly say that this motto is true to heart. During her residency at CHKD, she had the privilege of learning from some of the most knowledgeable and experienced attending physicians and specialists in their respective fields. Now as a practicing general pediatrician, she has been able to take this knowledge and apply it to her every day practice and help take care of some wonderful families and their children in the Hampton Roads area.

Dr. Karp has been recognized by the division of pediatrics at CHKD and EVMS for her outstanding contributions. In 2011 she won the coveted Dean's Faculty Award from EVMS.
