Dr. Joshua Black is a licensed optometrist committed to providing thorough eye-care services including the management of glaucoma and ocular emergencies. After graduating from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry with numerous academic honors and achievements, Dr. Black pursued a residency program in Miami, Florida, at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. There he received intensive training in glaucoma, retina, cornea, peri-operative care, ocular emergencies, and neurological eye disease. He then joined Virginia Eye Consultants and is now focused on providing a positive patient experience and establishing long lasting doctor-patient relationships.

He then went on to complete a glaucoma fellowship at the University of Virginia under the direction of Dr. Peter Netland with the focus of surgical and medical management of adult and pediatric glaucoma. Dr. Pittner has authored multiple publications, including an award-winning paper that was recognized with the Beem-Fisher award of the Chicago Ophthalmological Society.
