The City of Danville has been providing burial services and maintaining cemeteries for over 170 years, managing eight City-owned cemeteries spread across more than 186 acres. While six of the cemeteries are currently active for burials, Grove Street and Freedman's Cemeteries are preserved for maintenance without further interments.
Visitors can explore all eight cemeteries, which are open for visitation daily from sunup to sunset. The Public Works Department oversees cemetery regulations, while genealogy inquiries can be addressed through the Danville Public Library to assist those researching family histories.
