The Coalition for HIV Awareness and Prevention (CHAP) in Lynchburg, VA, was established in September 2000 in response to the closure of the Lynchburg Area AIDS Service Organization. Comprised of service providers and community members impacted by HIV, CHAP's mission is to educate the community about HIV and prevent its spread in Central Virginia.

Over the years, CHAP has initiated numerous programs and events, including World AIDS Day and National HIV Testing Day, to raise awareness and support for those affected by HIV. Through partnerships with local organizations and grant funding, CHAP continues to focus on quality programming and community outreach to address the ongoing challenges of HIV and AIDS in the area.
