The Fairfax City Fire Department works to provide fire suppression and prevention and emergency medical services to more than 22,000 residents living in an area of over 14 square miles. It utilizes advanced life support transport units, engines, truck ladders, reserve pumpers and heavy rescue vehicles. The department is comprised of nearly 60 career members. The Fairfax City Fire Department is organized into fire, emergency medical service operations and code administration divisions. Its administration division provides policy oversight and support for the department. The department s code administration division builds code administration, plans reviews, conducts inspections and investigations, and handles life safety education and emergency management.
