Churchland Middle School

Churchland Middle School, located in Portsmouth, Va., is a public school that offers educational and extracurricular programs to students in grades seven and eight. More than 1,000 students are enrolled in the school that offers subjects, such as science, social studies, mathematics and English. The school also offers various sports activities, including track, soccer, wrestling, bowling, basketball and volleyball. The institution s building has a courtyard that doubles up as an outdoor classroom. The school s physical education classes and city s basketball leagues use the gymnasium for activities. The school cafeteria is also used as an auditorium, with an audience capacity of up to 400. The institution s fine arts department includes a band room that can accommodate up to 125 musicians and a choral room with custom made raised platforms. The school is affiliated with the Portsmouth City Public Schools.
