Sacred Plant Traditions

Sacred Plant Traditions is a center for herbal studies whose classes are geared for the absolute beginner to the licensed practitioner looking to deepen their relationship with the plant world. Our mission is to protect herbal medicine as the medicine of the people. We are here to teach our community about plants as foods, medicines and allies in our evolutionary process. We believe in the integrity and intelligence of whole plant foods as vs. extracting bits and pieces from the Gaian equation of health, beauty and wholeness. Finally, and most importantly, we honor and strive to teach, remember and deepen the connection that makes all life sacred. We are excited to live in Charlottesville, VA with a plethora of local farmers, growers and suppliers of right livelihoods. We weave our programs with those of our community as many of our graduates have gone on and opened their own business. The Day Classes are taught by experienced herbalists, most of them graduates of our program. The Foundations course still is a cornerstone of our Three Year Community Herbalist Program. For those unable to make the nine month commitment yet want a longer course of study we are happy to offer the Six Week Course twice this year. For those that have completed Foundations or a similar year long program, Clinic I - Therapeutics will be offered from March to November. This intensive course of study is not offered anywhere else in this format on the East Coast. It truly is an extraordinary training for those that wish to delve deeper into the applications of herbal medicine.
