Capital Hospice, established in 1982, is a community-based nonprofit organization offering health care services to people suffering from life-limiting illness through direct support, public education and public advocacy. The center s bereavement program offers counseling, support groups, and workshops for individuals and families coping with loss. It also offers a special weekend camp for children, adolescents, and adults who have lost a loved one. Its Point of Hope Grief Counseling Center publishes comprehensive reference booklet with tips and resources for grieving people. The center also organizes conferences on a variety of programs for advanced professional education through its Institute for Education and Leadership. Its interdisciplinary hospice care team includes physician, nurse, social worker, chaplain, certified nursing assistant, bereavement coordinator and specially trained volunteers. Capital Hospice is affiliated by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and is located in Falls Church, Va. It offers emergency services 24-hours, seven-days a week.
