Come visit my waterfront art studio where I craft my jewelry inspired history and the urban environment. It documents the various states of its metamorphosis, and its relationship with ever-evolving natural landscapes. I use historic maps and the traditional craftsmanship of architectural details, such as wrought-iron and plasterwork to inspire my work. My sculptural jewelry captures the transitory landscapes of history: from Indigenous portage routes in Rock Creek Park to abandoned asylums whose architectural residue still decorates the streetscape today. Through my art I strive to be a documentarian, performing research with architectural and environmental preservation organizations to compile information showcasing an ephemeral aspect of our cities’ histories. Ultimately, my goal is for my work to blur the lines between the past and the present, weaving the poetics of space with the fabric of time.
