American Boxwood Society
The American Boxwood Society (ABS) is a non-profit membership organization established in 1961, dedicated to the appreciation, scientific understanding, and propagation of the genus Buxus. Headquartered at the Orland E. White Arboretum in Boyce, Virginia, the Society promotes the use of boxwood in landscapes across the country while serving as the International Registration Authority for cultivated Buxus.
ABS also sponsors and partially funds scientific research projects on boxwood and maintains the ABS Memorial Garden, which honors early Society leaders and features over 100 different species and cultivars. Through its educational outreach, the Society addresses contemporary challenges facing boxwood, including threats from pests and diseases.
