Accotink Academy Preschool

Accotink Academy, established in 1964, offers skill-based educational programs to students from preschool through kindergarten. The daily schedule of its preschool program for 3- and 4-year olds includes indoor and outdoor activities, quiet and active programs, gross and fine motor activities, and large and small group activities. The junior kindergarten class is available for those children who have not yet reached that level of overall maturity, which determines developmental readiness for kindergarten. The academy s teachers are trained in the Phonovisual method of teaching phonics. It imparts math program through games, manipulatives, computers and printed reinforcement materials. The school also organizes special classes for Spanish, music, drama and creative dance. Accotink Academy is accredited with the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and has branches in Springfield, Va., and Ponte Vedra, Fla.
