The Montpelier Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that promotes public safety, identifies and solves criminal cases and safeguards citizens rights. The department undertakes various criminal cases and works with state, local and federal agencies in the exchange of information to the public. It investigates crime scenes, seizes and analyzes evidence, identifies and speaks to witnesses and victims of crime, recovers stolen property, and identifies and arrests offenders. The department also provides services for managing traffic and emergency incidents. It is operated by the city of Montpelier, Vt., which also operates other departments, such as parks and recreation, finance, fire and rescue, human resources, public works and water.
