Formed in 1939, Washington Electric Cooperative serves over 10,000 members, mostly residential consumers, in 41 towns in north-central Vermont and in counties of Washington, Orange, Caledonia and Orleans. Based in East Montpelier, Vt., it operates approximately 1,200 miles of distribution line with eight substations.
