Central Vermont Community Action Council, established in 1965, undertakes community development and poverty eradication programs throughout Washington, Orange, and Lamoille counties in Vermont. The services offered by the organization include advocacy and case management; job development and employment support; wage subsidies and food programs; temporary housing and shelter support; and educational and literacy programs. It undertakes early head start programs for children and parents that include child and family development, health and nutrition services, support for children with disabilities, mental health services and community outreach programs. The organization also provides financial aid, and provides vocational training and technical assistance to low-income individuals for expansion of businesses. Central Vermont Community Action Council is located in Barre, Vt.
